Brunch lovers looking for smoke, spice and Southern flair will want to check out the new weekend daytime menu.
Loaded with hearty dishes on brunch staples that draw inspiration from breakfast favorites and the big flavors of Texas-style barbecue, Slim’s – a year-old option on Main Street – is definitely kicking the weekend eats up a notch.
Known for its straight-from-the-smoker barbecue dishes, playful sides and pitcher cocktails, Slim’s uses its recently launched brunch menu to echo the restaurant’s food flexibility. A very nice feature is that Slim’s offers vegetarian or all-vegan brunch options (much like how they’ve expanded the regular menu to do the same) and the kitchen also has a dedicated cooking space for non-vegan items. gluten, making it Mount Pleasant’s place. a great place to dine when you have omnivores alongside people who prefer plants or have other dietary restrictions.
But when it comes to meaty stuff, Slim’s definitely delivers. They use meats from BC suppliers like 63 Acres and Rossdown Farms, with high-quality cuts applied to things like their sweet and tangy pulled pork or crispy fried chicken and waffles.
Pulled pork is the star of the show when it comes to Slim’s Southern Cornbread N’ Eggs; it’s apparently a Benny with cornbread stacked with gravy pulled pork, poached eggs and queso sauce. It comes with super crispy and chewy little ones, which is basically a brunch dream come true. Add a Smoky BBQ Caesar, a little breeze (and delicious mayhem) from the large open windows facing the intersection where Main and Kingsway meet, and you’ve got a great weekend on the road.
For non-meat eaters, however, you’re well served with Slim’s Austin-style breakfast tacos or their chilaquiles, both of which contain a plant-based egg substitute. And if you prefer to skip the pork over that good Cornbread Benny, you can make the dish vegetarian by replacing it with Slim’s BBQ Jackfruit.
To entice early risers, Slim’s also offers a few standout “Happy Hour” Brunch menu options. From 10 a.m. to noon, your bottomless Kafka coffee is just $2, a one-ounce pickleback is $4, and mimosas are $6. For Brunch Happy Hour meals, they reduced their vegetarian hash.
Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Slim’s BBQ is located at 2301 Main St in Vancouver.
