The Behringer-Crawford Museum is gearing up for the opening of Holiday Traditions, starting November 13

By on October 17, 2021 0

Three decades of Christmas customs and family fun resume at the Behringer-Crawford Museum on Saturday, November 13 with the opening of 2021 Central Bank-sponsored Holiday Traditions @ BCM featuring beloved holiday toy trains of the museum.

Eight O-gauge Lionel model trains will travel 250 feet of track, passing miniature towns, farms and snow-capped fields. Thirty mobile screens will allow customers to activate landmarks along the way, including a bus station, a fast food restaurant, a car wash and a fire station with a firefighter sliding on a pole, as well as a lively carnival with rides and barkers. During the holidays, trains will travel a distance equal to one round trip from the museum to Disney World.

Also on display will be intricate LEGO creations designed by members of OKILUG (the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana LEGO User Group), a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting and constructing sculptures, buildings , creatures and other imaginative objects with the tiny multicolored plastic bricks. Highlights include the LEGO Holiday Village with a LEGO locomotive setup and a ‘maker space’ where kids can assemble their own LEGO creations.

Holiday Traditions @ BCM takes place from November 13 to January 9, 2022. Regular museum opening hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday and 1 pm to 5 pm Sunday. The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and New Year’s Day.

It will be open during special holiday hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, December 20 and 27. Admission is free for BCM members and children under 3; $ 9 adults; $ 8 seniors 60+; $ 5 for children aged 3 to 17.
